This area will be kept clear during the day.

Disabled parking: (Car parks open at 8.30am) Please see map below

Disabled Members can park in the BBMF Visitors Centre. The LLA will also have our merchandise trailer outside the hangar for purchases and membership queries before the gates open if required.

Timetable for the day

The timetable of the day is as follows however, weather and serviceability of aircraft may affect the day. The LLA and BBMF cannot be held accountable for any changes to the programme on the day for events such as the weather. We appreciate your understanding on this and we hope that you enjoy your day.

8.30am Car parks open
10am Gates open
11.45am Flying Display (BBMF mini flight & Mini vulcan)
13.00 – 15.00 Flying Display (Lancaster Hurricane & Spitfire + tail chases)
(weather & serviceability dependent)
3.15pm Address by the OC BBMF, Sqn Ldr Andrew Millikin

IMPORTANT: If you do not have tickets for the day

We know that not all Members have been successful in getting tickets for this years event and that they may wish to view the flying display from outside the fence line. We would ask that anyone wishing to do this does so ONLY from the designated ‘Spotters Car Park’ on Dogdyke Road. People watching the display from unathorised areas such as ‘The Mound’ put the whole event at risk for everyone and the decision may be taken, if people are in this location, to stop flying altogether. We would ask that people respect this and refrain from watching in locations that may ruin the enjoyment of the day for those who have been lucky enough to get tickets for the event. Thank you

We look forward to welcoming you to The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight on Saturday.

The Flight and their aircraft

As many of you know, the BBMF came to fruition in 1957 at RAF Biggin Hill in Kent mainly at the instigation of Group Captain Peter Thompson and was known as the “RAF Historic Aircraft Flight”. Later renamed ‘The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight’ the flight has a fleet of 12 historic and priceless aircraft that Lincolnshire’s Lancaster Association helps to support in a number of ways.

One of the ways The Flight honours the aircrew, ground crew and squadrons of past campaigns is in the painting of the fleet of aircraft to represent different squadrons and pilots. We’ve put together a page that shows the current schemes that the aircraft are painted in with a little bit of information about their pilots and squadrons. We hope you find it of interest.

Three of The Flight’s aircraft received new paint schemes for the 2018 season.
